Brisbane The River City

The city of Brisbane on Queensland's east coast of Australia is a fantastic place to visit. The weather is consistantly beautiful, the river provides energy to an economically strong and growing population and the city has everything in it that residents or visitors could possibly want.

Having travelled the world i believe Brisbane offers the vibrancy to rival Seattle, the climate better than LA, the visual beauty of San Francisco, a culinary range that aspires to Paris and a positive economic future that is not far behind Silicon Valley.

Brisbane is an alfresco city, where every opportunity is taken to spend time outdoors. Walking, biking, dining, running, playing sport and barbecuing as close to the river as you can get.

Novotel Brisbane Airport-Review

by admin on

Novotel Brisbane Airport
6 – 8 The Circuit, Brisbane Airport, Brisbane 4007, Australia

Pros
Free Internet access
Fantastic Food
Very near the airport, ferry station and train terminal

Cons
Poor soundproofing of rooms
Quite expensive for the quality of service and facilities
Lack of complimentary shuttle service

Last May, I had to rush to Brisbane to have some important documents signed by my boss who was having a vacation with his family. I checked online which hotel was was nearest to the airport and I found the Novotel Brisbane Airport so I booked myself there for an overnight stay. Though it was the nearest hotel in the area, I could not really say that the location was actually convenient because several cab drivers refused to take me there. Their reason – it was too near they wouldn’t be able to charge enough to make the journey worth their while! I ended up taking the free bus from the airport and walked myself to the hotel.

I checked in first before meeting up with my boss. I was satisfied with my room because it was clean and tidy, had a comfortable king-sized bed, a spacious and fully equipped bathroom and interesting views of the shopping centre which I didn’t actually expect. The free WiFi in the room was also a very useful treat. I was able to send emails and do some work while I was away. My only complaint was the poor TV reception. I always watch the news every morning and evening and I couldn’t because the TV channels were blurry.

After meeting up with my boss, I explored the hotel and discovered that it had a rooftop lap pool and gym. Both amenities were small; the gym only had 3 machines which did not include the machines I use so I was not able to use it. I had a yummy (but quite expensive) dinner at their restaurant afterwards.

I was pretty happy with the hotel until my room turned out to be very noisy during the night. Sleeping was not comfortable for this reason, more sound proofing probably needed!
