Pilates has become a mainstream exercise class in Brisbane in the last few years with several businesses opening more than one exercise centre. Prices seem to range considerably as well as the qualification of the teacher so we have put together a price comparison of what the main practitioners offer to casual and regular clients.

Pilates has long been touted as a great way to strengthen your body’s core, a swiss ball is the main piece of equipment used and class sizes can have a large bearing on the quality of teaching you are receiving as performing the exercises with a good technique is vital to get the best out of the class as well as avoid putting strain on areas that should not be under stress. So like most things in life there is a trade off between price and quality if you are a beginner.

Benefits of Pilates seem to be well worth the investment as the genre has gained a very loyal following with feedback along the lines that it has vastly improved some people’s lives through increased flexibility, co-ordination and strength. We have listed below the main current operators in the City and their offerings, so why not give it a go.

THE BODY REFINERY has 2 pilates centres, one in New Farm and one in Teneriffe. They run a Beginners special for $300 which includes a one on one consultation with a physio(normal price $100)  and 6 group classes which are for a maximum of 4 people and on a casual basis would cost $40 each. They have a wide range of other services but long-term clients will be paying around $28 for the group classes over a year. One on one sessions range between $90 on a casual basis to $80 for 10 sessions.

REVIVE STUDIO has 2 Pilates centres in the city and in Ashgrove. Their prices are considerably cheaper than The Body Refinery’s though the maximum class size of 12 reflects the individual attention that you will receive. A casual class will cost between $15 and $20 depending on the type of class and for longer-term users the average price is $12 per class. An initial introductory one on one session is neccessary for beginners.

FLUENT PILATES has 2 Pilates centres, one in Spring Hill and one in Burleigh on the gold coast. Studio classes on a casual basis cost $34 or if bought as a pack of 20 they cost $26 each. The initial consultation costs $55. Classes are less frequent than other Pilates studios as their main business is offering swimming lessons. Class sizes are

PONDERA PILATES has 2 Pilates centres in West End and Yeronga. Classes cost $22 each for a pack of 20 classes. The maximum class size is five. Their initial consultation fee is $99.

PILATES ON McGREGOR is located in Bardon. Classes cost $38 casually and $33 for packs of 20 or 30. Maximum class size is 3 for the standard classes which seems to be the smallest class size of all the main operators in Brisbane(other than one on one classes which all practitioners offer at a considerable premium to the group price). Their initial consultation fee is $66.
