Things to do in Brisbane
When you arrive in a city from somewhere else it is always difficult to take the pulse of the city in a matter of a few days and if you read the traditional tourist guides you can easily be overwhelmed with the range of options of things to do that you are confronted with. Story Bridge walk
Skydiving from various sites around Brisbane including the Ramblers parachute drop zone at Toogoolawah, voted one of the top 10 skydiving sites in the world.

Kayaking on the river. Hire Kayaks from the Riverlife Centre and paddle around the river alongside the ferries, motorboats and various wildlife.Riverlife also offers rock climbing at their South Bank HQ.
South Bank beach is a great place for young families to hang out, have a swim and sun bathe. There is an enormous man made lagoon style beach with varying depths and a fantastic water park next to it that has various water spouting features great for very young kids.
New Farm Park is a great venue for a picnic, riverside BBQ’s, tennis courts and a game of football. The adjacent Powerhouse has a great bar and restaurant and nearby Merthyr village has a good range of retail as well as coffee shops.
A bike ride from the botanical gardens to new farm along the riverside under the Storey Bridge and along the floating boardwalk. Bikes can be hired at the botanical gardens though the imminent Brisbane City Council plan to have cycle stations built around the city will give users 30 minutes free useage between the cycle stations.

Shopping along the queen street mall, particularly seek out the beautiful Brisbane Arcade, which has a delightful range of unique retail.
Jan Power’s Farmer’s Market at New Farm Park on the second and fourth saturday of every month(apart from christmas day). This has to be one of the best food markets in the world as the range of fayre, the atmosphere and the location make this a fantastic 1 to 2 hour experience.
A round of golf in Brisbane, several courses to choose from. The inner city Victoria park course, the Pacific golf course at Carindale, The Royal Queensland, the Indoroopilly, and the spectacular Pacific Harbour golf and country club provide a good range of price points and course challenges.
An afternoon at the Gabba, home of the Queensland state cricket team and the Brisbane Lions AFL team, this is a fantastic stadium for viewing, buy a seat above ground floor to get the best view and then wander the aisles of the ground floor to sample the real atmosphere.
The South Bank Cultural Centre has a vast array of world class facilities,they include The Queensland Art Gallery, The Queensland gallery of Modern Art, The Queensland Museum, QPAC(The Queensland Performing Arts Centre), Sciencentre and the State Library of Queensland. It is also home to The Queensland Conservatorium, The Queensland Theatre Company,The Queensland Maritime Museum, Opera Queensland and The Queensland College of Art.
High Tea at Customs House. This stunning heritage building overlooks the Brisbane river, the high tea is delicious.
Wander the Boutique shops of James St in New Farm, for a high class retail experience, world class fashion, world class furniture, award winning grocers and fish emporium along with a great range of coffee shops, eateries and a high quality cinema.
Have the best Fish and chips in the world at the cafe opposite Wynnum Manley Yacht club.
